How to root Samsung Galaxy Tab 2

How to root Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 model number GT-P3100:

  1. Download the root zip file from here. Save it on your PC and do not extract its contents.
  2. Next, copy it on your Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 external sdcard, which should be found by opening /mnt and then /extsdcard. Do not copy the root zip file on the internal sdcard as that one cannot be viewed by the CWM Recovery.
  3. After the transfer is complete, you have to power off the tablet and disconnect it from your PC.
  4. Boot into CWM Recovery screen. This can be done by pressing and holding ‘Volume down’ + ‘Power’ buttons simultaneously.
  5. When you notice the Samsung Logo you should let go off the Power button, but keep Volume down pressed. This will boot into CWM Recovery and you can move to the next step.
  6. Now, select the option that says ‘install zip from sdcard’ and then ‘choose zip from sdcard’.
  7. Find the root zip file you moved at step 2 and then confirm that you wish to flash it.
  8. Wait for the root process to complete and then go back to the main recovery menu.
  9. Select ‘reboot system now’. Wait for the reboot to complete and that would be all, now your Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 has been successfully rooted and you’re free to start installing new custom ROMs or any other applications that are working only with rooted devices.
I hope that this guide helped you root your tablet device. In case you have any other questions or you got stuck during the root process, then you should post in comments and we will try to help you. If the root wasn’t applied, then you should repeat the entire tutorial once again and the second time I’m sure that you’ll manage to complete it.
